Senior Components Engineer, Sales Support

Position Summary: This professional will be responsible for the selection, qualification, and application of electronic components in relay products. This role involves working closely with design, manufacturing, and quality teams to ensure component reliability and performance meet product requirements. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in components engineering, a deep understanding of electronic components, and a proven track record in the relay or related industries.

Key Responsibilities:

• Component Selection and Qualification:
  • Identify, evaluate, and select electronic components for new and existing relay products.
  • Develop and execute component qualification plans to ensure compliance with design specifications and industry standards.
  • Collaborate with suppliers to source and qualify new components, ensuring they meet performance, cost, and reliability requirements.
• Design Support:
  • Provide technical support to design engineers during the product development process.
  • Review and approve component selections in design schematics and bills of materials (BOMs).
  • Conduct failure analysis and root cause investigations for component-related issues.
• Quality and Reliability:
  • Establish and maintain component reliability testing protocols.
  • Monitor and report on component performance and reliability metrics.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance component quality and reduce costs.
• Documentation and Compliance:
  • Maintain detailed documentation of component specifications, qualification results, and testing procedures.
  • Ensure all components comply with relevant industry standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Stay current with advancements in component technology and industry trends.
• Sales Support:
  • Collaborate with the Sales team to provide technical support during customer interactions.
  • Assist in responding to customer inquiries and resolving component-related issues.
  • Participate in customer meetings and presentations to explain component choices and their benefits.
  • Work closely with customers to understand their needs and provide tailored component solutions.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration:
  • Work closely with purchasing, manufacturing, and quality assurance teams to address component-related issues.
  • Liaise with suppliers and manage component-related communications and negotiations.
  • Participate in design reviews, technical meetings, and project planning sessions.

Qualifications:

• Education:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related field.
• Experience:
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in components engineering, preferably in the relay or electronics industry.
  • Proven experience in component selection, qualification, and failure analysis.
  • Familiarity with industry standards and regulatory requirements for electronic components.
• Skills:
  • Strong knowledge of electronic components, including resistors, capacitors, semiconductors, and connectors.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a cross-functional team.
  • Proficiency in using electronic design automation (EDA) tools and component databases.

Working Conditions:

• This position may require occasional travel to supplier sites and manufacturing facilities.
• Work is performed in an office and laboratory environment.
